This topic reviews how to edit parameters in its dialog-box.

A typical Dialog-Box and Parameter.

The image below is a typical dialog-box. It is the Edit Dimension dialog-box.

It has only one parameter and data-box.

There are three parts to the parameter:

 'Data-value' in the 'data-box' - this is the actual 'parameter' value that you apply to the element.

How to edit parameters in a dialog-box.

There are three different procedures to edit a parameters value.

tog_minus        Method 1: Use your Keyboard

Dialog-R10-Dimension

Enter the data-value directly:

1.Enter the data-value with your keyboard
2.Press the Enter key on your keyboard to update to the new value

You must press the 'Enter' key (also called the Return key) to update the value.

Dialog-R10-Dimension-Equation

Enter a 'symbolic equation' which will evaluate to the data-value:

1.Enter an equation with your keyboard
2.Press the 'Enter'  on your keyboard to evaluate the equation and update the value

You must use the 'Enter' key to update the parameter to the new value.

The 'Enter' key is also called the 'Return' key.


Simple Arithmetic: +, –, *, /;
Powers: ^, Sqrt();
Trigonometric: Angles are Radians, pi, Sin(), Cos(), Tan(), Sinh, Cosh, Tansh, ArcSin(), ArcCos(), ArcTan2( ; )

The Spin-Box has two rows of arrowhead buttons:

In the image, the:

Data-value is 67.123451s-red.
Spin-increment' is 12s .

Edit the Data Value with the top arrowhead buttons in the Spin-Box

1.Click the Top arrow-buttons3s to change the Data Value5s by the Spin-Increment:
Top and left arrow button to reduce the data-value1s-red to 67.12345 Spin-Increment2s = 66.12345
Top and right arrow button to increase the data-value1s-red to 67.12345 + Spin-Increment2s = 68.12345

Edit the Spin-Increment with the bottom arrowhead button in the Spin-Box

2.Click the Bottom arrow-buttons4s to change the Spin-Increment:
Bottom and left arrow button to reduce the spin-increment2s to 1 ÷ 10 = 0.1
Bottom and right arrow button to increase the spin-increment2s to 1 × 10 = 10

WarningWARNING: The model re-builds each time you click the top arrow buttons in the spin-data tool3s.
When the number-of-steps is high, and the model is complex, use your keyboard to enter a data-value directly, or, de-select the Auto-Update.

Double-click inside the data-box to hide the Spin-Box.

Double-click the data-box again to show the spin-box.

tog_minus        Method 3: Use the Zero/Round contextual menu

'Zero' or 'Round' data

1.Right-click inside the data box

The 'Zero / Round' contextual menu shows.

2.Click:
Zero: to make the data value Zero.
Round: to change the data to the nearest value that is exactly divisible by the Spin-Increment
