Motion-Dimension FB dialog-box

Command:

Add Motion-Dimension FB.

What for:

Use a Motion-Dimension FB to identify a Part you want to move with a specified motion.

A Motion-Dimension defines:

An Angle between two Lines in separate Parts. This is a Rocker.

- or -

A Distance between two Points in separate Parts. This is a Slider.

The Rocker and Slider are Motion-Parts.

Double-click Function-Block

How to open the Motion-Dimension FB dialog-box:

In the graphic-area:

Double-click the Motion-Dimension Function-Block

- or -

Double-click the arrowhead of the Motion-Dimension dimension line.

- or -

In the Assembly-Tree:

Double-click the Motion-Dimension FB element

To move the Motion-Dimension and not move the Motion-Dimension FB

Move your mouse over the dimension arrowhead, then CTRL + Drag
Double-click Motion-Dimension Arrowhead

Double-click Arrowhead

Base-Value:

It is the 'constant' contribution to the Motion-Dimension (in the image, the Base-Value is '-180')

The Motion-Dimension value equals the Base-Value when a wire is not connected to the input of the FB.

Base-Value + Motion-Value = Total Value.
This is actual position of the Motion-Part.

Motion-Value: (Read-Only)

It is the 'motion contribution' to the Motion-Dimension.
These motion-values are at the input-connector of the Motion-Dimension FB.
The 'Motion-Value' regulates the position of the Motion-Part relative to the Base-Value.

Directions separator

Negate Motion-Values: Option to multiply the Motion-Values by -1.

To change the motion direction with respect to the sketch-element from which the Motion-Part specifies its initial position.

Click the Positive Motion-Values check box

- or -

Click the Negative Motion-Values check-box

Negate Base-Values: Option to multiply the Base-Value by –1.

The 'Base-Value' 'mirrors' its position with respect to the sketch-element from which the Motion-Part specifies its initial position.

Click the Positive Base-Value check box

Click the Negative Base-Values check-box

Motion-Dimension FBs n the graphic-area

When you add a Motion-Dimension FB to the graphic-area, the icon is changed from the icon you see in the Function-Block Toolbar to an icon that is identifies the type of joint to which it is applied.

The Positive direction of the Motion-Dimension.

When the Motion-Dimension is an Angle - a Rocker

The Positive direction is always the 'counter-clockwise' angle from the 'Fixed Part' to the 'Motion-Part'

When the Motion-Dimension is a Distance - a Slider

The Positive direction is a function of the positive direction of the Lines that you use in the Slide-Joint.
