Tutorial 6: Edit the End of the LAST Segment

# How to edit the End of the LAST segment?

### How do I edit the End of the Last Segment?

A question that is frequently asked is:

'How do I edit the 'End of the Last Segment?'

It is easy!

First, make a note of two types of motion:

 • Non-Progressive: The position at the end of the last segment is the same as the start of the first segment.
 • Progressive: [also called Indexing]. The position at the end of the last segment is NOT the same as the start of the first segment.

When you use a Flexible Polynomial Motion-Law, you can use the same procedure to make the Velocity, Acceleration and Jerk Values different to each other.

How to... Edit the End of the LAST Segment.

#### Non-Progressive

The position at the end of the Last Segment is the same as the position at the start of the first segment.

1 Make the FIRST Segment the Selected Segment.

Note: the Blend-Point No is '1' .

As usual, the Blend-Point Editor can edit the

 • 'End of the Previous Segment' - this is the end of the motion, AND the end of the LAST Segment.
 • 'Start of the Selected Segment - this is the start of the motion.

2 Make the Match Control-Button a Solid Green Circle - see image below
3 Make the Specify-End Control-Button a Solid Black Triangle  - see image below
 4 Edit the motion-value in the data-box

The Position at the end and start of the motion are the same, and are equal to the value in the data box.

Non-Progressive Motion

### Progressive

The position at the end of the Last Segment is NOT the same as the position at the start of the first segment.

1 Make the FIRST Segment the Red Selected Segment.

Note: the Blend-Point No is '1'.

As usual, the Blend-Point Editor can edit the

 • 'End of the Previous Segment' - this is the end of the motion, the end of the LAST Segment.
 • 'Start of the Selected Segment - this is the start of the motion

2 Clear the 'Match Control Button so it is a 'clear circle'
 3 Make sure the Specify-End and Specify-Start Control-buttons are Solid-Black Triangles

When the Triangles are Black, you can specify their motion-values.

The Radio Buttons are active. You use the Radio Buttons to edit the Start of the Selected Segment or the End of the Previous Segment.

To Edit the Motion-Value at the End of the Last Segment

4 Click the Radio-Button that is above the 'Specify-End'Control-Button.
5 Edit the motion-values in the data box

When you edit the motion-value in the box, the motion-value at the end of the motion (end of the Last Segment) change, and it becomes different to the motion-value at the start of the motion.

To Edit the Motion-Value at the Start of the First Segment

6 Click the Radio-Button that is above the 'Specify-Start' Control-Button - see image below
7 Edit the motion-values in the data box

When you edit the motion-value in the box, the motion-value at the start of the motion (start of the First Segment) changes, and it becomes different to the motion-value at the end of the motion.
