Where are the MechDesigner Files after installation?

There are a number of directories that we add to your computer when we install MechDesigner.

To see a directory that is hidden, you must make this setting change : Start > Control Panel > File Explorer Options > View tab | Radio-button: select 'Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives'.

Note: Windows 10: enter 'Control Panel' in the search box next to the Windows button at the bottom-left of your display.

CopyMinder Protection Text Files

There are two files that you may need to send to PSMotion if you have issues with 'CopyMinder' :

Protection Key Number: C:\ProgramData\HW\MD32_0_0\cm\mechdesigner.exe.cm.ini [File type: 'Configuration settings']

CopyMinder Log File: C:\ProgramData\HW\MD32_0_0\cm\mechdesigner.exe.cm.log [File type: 'Text Document']


Default Locations:

<install directory> – C:\Program Files\PSMotion\MDxx Pro64
<CommonAppData> – C:\ProgramData\PSMotion\
<LocalAppData> : typically C:\users\<username>\AppData\Local\PSMotion\
<username> : typically 'Kevin'

To be able to navigate to:  'C:\ProgramData\' and 'C:\users\<user name>\AppData\', use:

Start > Control Panel > File Explorer Options > View tab | Radio-button: select 'Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives'.

Note: It may help to change the view option. At the top of Windows® Control-Panel, optionally use 'Large icons' or 'Small icons' in the 'View by ' drop-down.


Notation:

xx = MechDesigner release number

yyyy = SOLIDWORKS release year


Other Files

<user account>_*.memopad

Names of the Memos' you can add to the Model and each Mechanism name-tab.

Latest Database files

Click the Link to download the MD13-2-312 : Database Files . Extract and put the files in:

<CommonAddData>\PSMotion\DBase\

AND

Path as defined in the Edit menu > Application Settings > General tab > File Options: Language Database Directory - to change the database directory
