Keyboard Shortcuts

These keyboard shortcuts are those you will use most frequently.

Change the View of the Model

Zoom-In :

Zoom-Out :

Mouse_select_scroll-BLK Middle-Button Scroll Wheel

Scroll-Wheel - roll-forward to Zoom-in and roll-backward to Zoom-Out.

If this does not work, but has in the past, you may need to save your work, exit MechDesigner, and restart.

Pan :

Ctrlb-sm + Drag

Pan the View

Click in an empty space to de-select all elements before you CTRL+DRAG.

PAN Left or right :

Ctrlb-sm + Mouse_select_scroll-BLK[scroll wheel]

Move the view to the left or to the right.

PAN up or down :

Shiftb-sm + Mouse_select_scroll-BLK[scroll wheel]

Move the view Up or Down.

Free-Spin :

Shiftb-sm + Drag

'Free' Spin the view of the graphic-area.

10º spin increments :

LeftArrowb-sm , RightArrowb , UpArrowb-sm or DownArrowb-sm

10º spin increments around the Horizontal and Vertical axes of the active view

NOTE: When you use the Left and Right Arrow Keys you may move between editors tabs; [Mechanism and Model-Editors].  When this happens it is VERY annoying! To stop:

1.Click in the Selection-Window
2.Then use the Left or Right arrow keys.

30º spin increments :

Ctrlb-sm + LeftArrowb-sm , RightArrowb , UpArrowb-sm or DownArrowb-sm

30º spin increments around the Horizontal and Vertical axes of the active view

90º spin increments :

Shiftb-sm + LeftArrowb-sm , RightArrowb , UpArrowb-sm or DownArrowb-sm

90º spin increments around the Horizontal and Vertical axes of the active view

Mouse-Button Shortcuts

Double-Click :

... an element to open the element's dialog-box, when possible.

Click Nothing :

Click an empty area of the graphic-area to deselect all elements.

Click :

... an element. The element with show in the Selection-Window (edit it from there)

CTRL+Click :

... an element: the Element Properties dialog shows to give the kinematic and dynamic properties of the element you click.

Alt + Click :

...[NEW MD14] in the graphic-area to show a 'bulls-eye' target or concentric rings, with a scale. As you zoom in, the scale has a smaller linear range. An easy-to-use tool to approximate the distance between elements.

Right-Click :

... an element to complete a command for which you must select only one element.

Keyboard Shortcuts

F1 :

Hover above an toolbar icon, then click F1 (Fn+F1 on Laptops) to read the help for the command. [You must also Help menu > Download Latest Help which is MechDesigner.chm in C:/ProgramData/PSMotion/]

INS :

Add Part

C :

Continuously Cycle

F :

one step forward. See also : Machine-Settings > Cycling Parameters > Number-of-Steps

B :

one step back. See also : Machine-Settings > Cycling Parameters > Number-of-Steps

HOME :

Stop Continuous Cycle and move the Master-Machine-Angle to 0º.

Ctrl + Z :

Undo - This is actually quite powerful - especially in the Part-Editor when a sketch might get 'confused'.

ESC :

Cancels the active command.
