Geometry | Spline

Add Spline

MD-Toolbar-SE-AddSpline

Toolbar :

Part-Editor: Geometry toolbar > Add Spline

Menu :

Part-Editor: Add menu > Geometry sub-menu> > Add Spline

To add :

Note:

To add a Spline, we click (NOT drag)in the graphic-area to add Nodes that define the shape of the Spline.

1.Part-Editor: Click Geometry toolbar >Add Spline

2.Part-Editor: Click in the graphic-area to add Nodes for the Spline

3.Part-Editor: Continue to click at different places in the graphic-area to add more nodes


Note: You can click a Point* of a sketch-element to merge a node with the Point*


To end Add Spline:

4.Part-Editor: Click the first node again to add a Closed Spline
- or -
Part-Editor: Click the last node again to add an Open Spline.


Point* : a Point, start-Point, end-Point, or center-Point

The Spline sketch-element is now in the graphic-area.

To edit :

Edit a Node's Position

1.Part-Editor: Add dimensions to specify the position of the node.

- or -

1.Part-Editor: Drag the node to a new position.

- or -

1.Mechanism-Editor (or Part-Editor) : See the Point Properties dialog-box


Edit the Spline's Angle at a Node

1.Mechanism-Editor (or Part-Editor) : Click the Spline to show the Spline-Handles

2.Mechanism-Editor (or Part-Editor) : Drag, to rotate an arrowhead of a spline-handle around the Node


Edit the Spline's Curvature at a Node

1.Mechanism-Editor (or Part-Editor) : Click the Spline to show the Spline-Handles

2.Mechanism-Editor (or Part-Editor) : Drag the arrowhead of a spline-handle further from or nearer to a node

Notes:

A Spline may be openRed-14-1b or closedRed-14-2.

Click the Spline to show a spline-handleRed-14-3 for each Node:

The direction of the spline at a Node is normal to its spline-handlesRed-14-3

The Radius-of Curvature of the spline at a Node is proportional to the length of its spline-handle

The Radius-of-Curvature of the spline at a Node is symmetrical to the two sides of its spline-handle.

To hide the spline-handles (default), click the Spline again.
