What are the different 2D-Cam elements

These are the different elements and Function-Blocks you need to know, and how they are related.

STEP 1A

Add 2D-Cam

Select a:

Part: the Cam-Part

Profile: the Cam-Follower

>>>... optional ...>>>

 

STEP 1B

Open: 2D-Cam dialog-box

Display Inner, Pitch-Circle, Outer

Display Cam as Profile, Pressure Angle, Contact-Force,, Shear-Stress*, ...

Display Color

Roller-Life, Cam-Life

Note: Make sure *material-properties are correct for STEP 3A

STEP 2A

Add Cam-Data FB

STEP 2B

Link 2D-Cam to Cam-Data FB

1.Open Cam-Coordinates dialog-box

2.Select the 2D-Cam

3.Do STEP 3B immediately,  

or

3.Do STEP 3A, then do STEP 2B and STEP 3B again.

STEP 3A

If Conjugate Cams, Add Conjugate Cam FB

Cam-Analysis (with Graph FB)

Output-Connectors from Cam-Data FB:

Contact-Force*

Contact-Shear-Stress*

Radius-of-Curvature

Pressure-Angle

Sliding Velocity

STEP 3B

Calculate Cam-Coordinates as Points or Arcs

Save as DXF, TXT, STEP

Transfer cams directly to SOLIDWORKS

Save As Points, Arcs

2D-Cam: Elements, Parameters, Analysis, Coordinates

Usually, do these steps

1.Add a 2D-Cam - see Add 2D-Cam


IF the new 2D-Cam is the second 2D-Cam of a Conjugate-Cam or a Groove-Cam (Body-Closed Cam) then

1.a. Add a Conjugate-Cam FB

1.b. Edit the Conjugate-Cam FB to add at least two 2D-Cams - see Conjugate-Cam dialog-box.


Then:

2.Select the 2D-Cam or the Conjugate-Cam as the Power Source for the Cam-Follower - see Configure-Power Source

Then

3.Review the 2D-Cam's Properties : Display, Properties, Life, ... - see below

Then:

4.Add a Cam-Data FB - see Add Cam-Data FB

5.Select a 2D-Cam to link it to the Cam-Data FB - see Link the Cam-Data FB to a 2D-Cam

Then:

6.Connect wires from the Cam-Data FB to a Graph FB to analyse 5 different parameters of the 2D-Cam - see Cam-Analysis Parameters

7.Calculate the Cam-Coordinates - see Cam-Coordinates dialog
